Celibashi Meets Canadian Ambassador: Collaboration to Address Potential Risks in Voter Registration System

Ilirjan Celibashi, the State Chief-Commissioner for Elections, welcomed Canadian Ambassador to Albania, Elissa Golberg, for a meeting today.

The discussion centered on preparations for the upcoming elections, including key data on voter registration abroad.

Ambassador Golberg expressed interest in the registration process for Albanians living in Canada, commending the work of the Central Election Commission (CEC) and the voter registration platform (PER).

As the lead country in the G-7 Cyber-security Response Mechanism, Ambassador Golberg also offered Canada’s assistance in identifying potential risks, complementing the security measures already in place within the PER system.

She further inquired about the implementation of OSCE/ODIHR recommendations and informed the CEC about a Canadian government-supported project aimed at educating first-time voters.

Celibashi thanked the Ambassador for her valuable support and institutional recognition.

Elissa Golberg serves as Canada’s Ambassador to Italy, Ambassador to Albania and San Marino, High Commissioner to Malta, and Permanent Representative to UN Agencies in Rome (IFAD, FAO, WFP).
