Belize Prime Minister John Briceño had an audience with Pope Francis during his visit to the Holy See (Vatican City) on Saturday.

Briceño and his delegation were welcomed to the Holy See by Pope Francis in the Vatican Apostolic Palace.

Following the meeting with Pope Francis, Briceño met with Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher, Secretary for Relations with States and International Organisations.

The Vatican said Briceño held “cordial discussions” with the Roman Catholic Church officials and “satisfaction was expressed for the good relations between Belize and the Holy See.”

Belize and the Vatican agreed to continue their long-standing cooperation in areas such as education and care for migrants.
