Jordan- FM, Djiboutian counterpart discuss U.S. decision on Jerusalem


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Riyadh, Jan 22 (Petra) –– Minister of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs, Ayman Safadi, briefed his Djiboutian counterpart, Mahmoud Ali Yusuf, President of the current session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Arab League, on Jordan's efforts to contain the repercussions of the U.S. administration decision to recognize Jerusalem as capital of Israel.

Safadi also briefed the Djiboutian minister on the outcome of an Arab ministerial meeting held in Amman earlier this month and agreed to intensify efforts with the international community to urge recognition of a Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital on the pre-June 4, 1967 borders.

In their meeting, Safadi and Yusuf discussed regional developments and issues of common concern.

The Council of Arab Foreign Ministers, headed by Djibouti, will meet at the Arab League headquarters next month to follow up on ways to contain the consequences of the US decision and support the Palestinians.
