Rouhani Stresses Economic Cooperation With Cyprus

TEHRAN (Dispatches) - Iranian President Hassan Rouhani in a meeting with new Cyprus ambassador Petros Nakosiz called for promoting banking relations between Tehran and Nicosia, and urged that Iran will stay committed to the JCPOA until the other parties stay loyal to the deal.
"There is good potential for deepening ties in various economic fields between the two countries and promoting banking relations can lay the groundwork for better relations between Tehran and Nicosia," he added.

The president emphasized the role of banking relations in promoting the level of economic relations between the two countries, pointing out that in order for bilateral relations to develop, bilateral banking relations should develop just like Iran’s other banking relations with many European and regional countries.

The Cypriot ambassador, for his part, said that his country is determined to enhance its relations in all aspects especially banking and financial cooperation with the Islamic Republic.
Also in 2017 September, Cypriot President's Chief of Staff Michalis Sofokleous in a meeting with his Iranian counterpart Mahmoud Vaezi underlined his country's willingness to expand banking relations with Tehran.
