Rwanda defender Thierry Manzi scored the only goal of the game as the Amavubi beat Equatorial Guinea 1-0 in their second African Nations Championship match to set up a Tanger showdown with Libya.
Defeat eliminates Equatorial Guinea, who were beaten 3-0 by Libya in their opener, and puts Rwanda in control ahead of their winner-takes-all bout with the North Africans on Tuesday.
The Amavubi will progress to the quarter finals with a draw, while Libya need to win. Nigeria will be progress unless they lose to Equatorial Guinea by a greater margin than the Mediterranean Knights beat Rwanda.
This was a game low on quality, and was settled in the 65th minute when Manzi leapt above the Equatoguinean defence to meet Djihad Bizimana's corner and angle a superb header beyond Miguel Angel Oscar Eyama.
The contest was halted in stoppage time when Equatorial Guinea's Pedro Oba fell to the turf after a collision and, after a long delay, was taken out of the stadium in an ambulance.
