ANALYSIS/OPINION:

Britain has lost its way, lost its moral compass … and lost its mind.

In the midst of a season of repeated and deadly terror attacks, the British decided to permit Hezbollah, Iran’s proxy and international terrorist organization, to march in a parade through London on Sunday.

The parade marked Al Quds Day, an occasion invented by the late Ayatollah Khomeini to call for Israel to be destroyed. In his words, “any freedom lover and justice seeker in the world must do its best for the annihilation of the Zionist regime.”

Make no mistake, there is nothing pro-Palestinian or pro-Arab about Hezbollah. It is heavily engaged in the ongoing killing of Arab citizens of Syria in support of the brutal Assad regime. Hezbollah has been spreading terror around the world for decades. As far back as 1983, Hezbollah murdered 220 U.S. Marines and 21 other service personnel with a truck bomb at a U.S. Marine compound in Beirut, Lebanon. Hezbollah is dangerous, deadly and violent, as everyone knows.

Among the countries that designate Hezbollah a terrorist organization are: Arab League, Australia, Bahrain, Canada, European Union, France, Gulf Cooperation Council, Israel, Netherlands, New Zealand, United Kingdom, United States.

Nevertheless, Hezbollah was granted permission to march through London.

British authorities have gone mad. They have wedded political correctness to a revival of historical Jewish scapegoating, enabling a wave of destruction that threatens to go out of control. Britain has drunk the Kool-Aid.

At a rally outside the U.S. embassy following the march, one speaker blamed this week’s tragic fire at west London’s Grenfell Tower public housing project on  “Zionists!”

The irony is, it is against the law in England to carry the flag of a terrorist organization. Holding Hezbollah flags is a criminal offense in accordance with Section 13 of the Terrorism Act 2000.”

Despite this clear law, and despite a petition signed by 24,000 people to prevent the march, the parade was approved.  The incitement show was allowed to go on.

The British rationalized violating its own criminal code by splitting hairs, saying the Hezbollah marchers were members of its political wing, not its (terrorist-designated) military wing, a distinction that Hassan Nasrallah himself, the head of Hezbollah, finds laughable.

In an interview with Al-Monitor, Nasrallah, claimed there is no difference between the political and military wings of his organization. He explained that in this organization, the political follows the military. Nevertheless, the EU and England, in their lack of wisdom, decided otherwise, and therefore permitted the monstrous organization to march, carrying its distinctive yellow Hezbollah flag containing an image of a military assault rifle at its center.

When an Islamist terrorist group is given leave to parade and incite hatred in the heart of London, can anyone be surprised that violence follows? England’s fourth terrorist attack of this season took place the same day. This time the target was a mosque.

Perhaps there’s something in the water in England, a tainted, perverse concoction of political correctness and self-righteousness, plus a magical sense of national immunity, which, added to the old and deep well of anti-Semitism corrupts the British ability to see reality and exercise good judgment.

Just days before the Hezbollah parade and mosque attack the BBC had to issue a retraction and apology for an error that revealed its bias. The event was a terrorist attack at Damascus Gate in Jerusalem.  Three Palestinians, permitted by Israel to enter Jerusalem for Ramadan celebrations, attacked people with knives and guns, stabbing a young female border guard to death before they were killed. BBC’s first headline read “3 Palestinians killed after deadly stabbing in Jerusalem.” The headline concealed the fact that the 3 Palestinians were the assailants!  Donald Trump Jr. immediately called out the BBC , tweeting, “You mean after they stabbed a female Israeli police officer to death … right? This is as close to being misleading as possible.”

“Need a new term for this nonsense. Sort of the opposite of victim blaming. How about Culprit Coddling? Maybe Criminal Cozying? Thoughts???,” he tweeted.

The BBC made the correction.

How does a journalist come to make this kind of mistake? It happens when the journalist wears a filter — a bias — that assumes Israel (or Zionism, or Jews, or the West) to be an evil actor. To the original headline writer it didn’t seem obviously absurd to think Israel would kill people for no reason at all.  The writer had to be reminded of reality — the Palestinians were assailants — they were terrorists who murdered … and were killed in the act.

Like alcoholics in denial, the British continue to make self-destructive choices that dig themselves more deeply into the hole. Like junkies in denial, the Brits think they are immune, while their very ability to think is infected by their substances of choice.

Britain has lost its way, lost its moral compass, lost its reason.
