Mogadishu (HOL) – Somali Prime Minister Hamsa Abdi Barre met with Ambassador Abdullah Al-Otaibi, Head of the Arab League Mission in Somalia, on Wednesday to discuss expanding political and economic cooperation between Somalia and the Arab League.
During the meeting held in Mogadishu, Prime Minister Barre highlighted the government's recent achievements and emphasized Somalia's readiness for foreign investment, particularly from Arab League member states.
He outlined key sectors open for development, including livestock, agriculture, fisheries, energy, petroleum, and mining.
"Somalia offers valuable investment opportunities, and we welcome meaningful partnerships from our Arab brothers," Barre reportedly told the ambassador, according to a statement from his office.
Ambassador Al-Otaibi reaffirmed the Arab League's continued support for Somalia and stressed the importance of promoting Arabic language education, noting that Arabic is officially recognized as Somalia's second language in the constitution.
The meeting underscored the Arab League's intention to deepen its engagement in Somalia's development and cultural integration as it stabilizes and rebuilds key institutions.
