Two days after Oregon State concluded its 2024 spring practices there is roster movement.
Running back Isaiah Newell and tight end Carter Neuman landed in the transfer portal Monday. OSU has lost four players since the transfer portal window opened April 16. Running back Damien Martinez and linebacker Michael Erhart asked for transfers last week.
The loss of Newell is significant given Martinez’s departure. It is one of Oregon State’s strongest positions, with Anthony Hankerson and Jam Griffin leading the way. But the position isn’t nearly as stacked with the depth it had two weeks ago.
Newell, a 6-foot-1 fifth-year junior, had 25 carries for 78 yards last season. Newell rushed for 180 yards and two touchdowns during his OSU career.
Neuman, a fourth-year junior from Sheldon High of Eugene, played in nine games during his OSU career.
